Selection of fume cupboard

When laboratory is constructed, we need to select the type of fume hood and installation position of fume hood. We have to consider the following lab items when we select the type, material and shape of fume hoods.
1. Medicine being used: Control wind speed needs to be considered simply when we use organics or other special reagent to make test. Hot source: When using equipment with hot source, we should consider about the required exhaust volume so as to confirm the power of exhaust fan when heat exceeds 2000 Calorie/hour.
2. Tests regarding radioactivity or perchloric acid: Specialized fume hood needs to be selected and it’s inlet wind speed should be set above 0.5m/s.
3. Tests using big equipment: We need to consider about the effective size inside of fume hood and leave necessary space for exhaust air.
